Hi everybody! Now that we have an abundance of free time and a (very overwhelming) plethora of streaming services to fill our brains and souls, we thought this page would be a good space to share what us, the PerformanceStuds, are watching, reading, hearing, breathing…
Each post will be dedicated to a different member and a list of what popular (or unpopular) culture they are consuming.
As a starting point, I want to bring attention to some platforms that are free and accessible:
- Here is a list of websites where you can legally watch movies and television for free!
- If you are part of the Wesleyan student body or faculty, you can login through the Wesleyan proxy to Kanopy and Swank to watch tons of movies!
- Similarly through your Wesleyan login, you theater-loving folk can watch FREE performances and interviews on Alexander Street, Digital Theatre +, OnTheBoards.tv, and Routledge Performance Archive!
- If you’re more of a reader than watcher, you can access a database of over a thousand full texts of plays by black playwrights from North America, English-speaking Africa, the Caribbean, and other African diaspora countries, and Project Gutenberg which has over 60,000 different free ebooks and plays!
As we continue to frequently update this page, we would love to hear from all of you! Feel free to comment on this post or email nlitt@wesleyan.edu.
